Agreed. My original draft of my posting included the same point but I decided at the time that perhaps it was a speculation too far.Yes, China (or Thailand or somewhere with cheap labour) would deliver finished cabinets, finished drive units and finished crossovers. Tannoy Scotland then bolts the parts into the cabinets, solders the connections and, bingo, "Made in the UK".
British provenance is essential for their Prestige range which has its main market in the Far East where that "Made in the UK" tag represents a lot of the intrinsic value of the product to the buyers. " Made in China"? Just another expensive louspeaker. Drop the price or sell few (if any).
