Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Speakers Have The Toughest Job

A speaker is completely at the mercy of the room and its construction. It has to operate at various temperatures, altitudes, pressures, dust levels, and humidity.

A speaker does not know what furnishings, if any, are in the room. It does not know if it will be part of a multi-speaker surround sound gig.

A speaker can only be as good as what you feed it. That means the entire audio chain.

A speaker does not know where the listeners are sitting, standing, lying, or moving.

A speaker does not know what broadcasts, movies, video games, and music will be playing. Nor does it know at what volume levels.

Once you address and answer the above, then you can pry off and eliminate those models which will not work for you and your environment.
