Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

the Klipsch Computer Speakers

i have a pair and have been continuously amazed at how they sound way better than they should be for the money. the specs surprisingly confirmed my suspicion that they went low and have good definition at the specified 30Hz (!) point. i even ran a freq sweep to verify the 30Hz.

they image sometimes, seemingly to beyond the speaker and almost over my shoulder. of COURSE the grills are off. they will play loud and still maintain their composure and are quite satisfying with the heft i did NOT expect.

i have the bass control ramped down to 12:35 on the clock or 7 'o clock if you consider only one hand on a clock. this is consistent with my need to ramp down the bass in my car speakers to minus 4 or 5 to make the bass sound right. i guess the person who voices these speakers feels the younger set (less than 35yo) want their bass to be thumpy. it's like that in the portable devices too.

enough of that ramble. you won't be sorry if you get the Klipsch 2.1s as i though given the sound of the original horn products. this isn't intended to offend lovers of the A7 sound, they have their place, of course.

i have not done much listening to the recent klipsch designs with the copper colored bass drivers so i can't speak about those.
...regards...tr
