Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Can I back track and admit I was wrong

After reading my OWN thread it got me thinking. I owned my own business for over 25 years and started thinking of the 10,000 blood sucking state fees and expenses I had to pay.

When asked about a $10k speaker my anger was that ""I"" can't afford it. Even after having a very good career. So unless I learn hypnotism and call the wife in the quiet dark back room - it ain't happening!!!!

Some speakers are worth $10k but not all. Let's examine the cost of bringing a GOOD speaker to market.

Engineering, autoCAD, R&D, price pointing, production setup - I have NO idea how much that comes to??

Drivers and parts are easily $2500.

Cabinetry and finishing with materials and labor is easily another $2000

Various assembly and storage a few hundred

Web master, adds, etc...

Payroll and accounting and Accountant fees - $$$$$

General office supplies like Quicken blood sucking programs

The 25 various insurance policies you are required to have

Building and utilities costs

And oh yeah - TAXES!!!!!!!!

So after thinking about only A FEW of the business operating expenses I started to think - how does a GOOD speaker company like Thiel even do it for $10k..

SO I am wrong but again not all are worth it. But some are.
