RE: Active bi-amping on three way speakers

I keep seeing car-audio crossovers for extremely cheap prices, complete with 24dB L-R slopes, phase switches, and so on, sometimes for as cheap as 40$. I figure all I would need with those is a 12V PSU.

Has anybody ever tried one of those in a home audio situation? The cheap price is scary, but then an active crossover is just a few resistors, caps, and opamps. How bad can it be, considering I'm only gonna use it on the low pass <400Hz?? Damn, there's even a low bass filter, pretty useful when using bass horns... and you can switch the phase 90° or 180° if needed...
