Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

RE: KEF Reference 103.2 Speakers

If you can keep them well away from the walls, they should sound very good. Kefs of that vintage were very even in a listening window, but the crossover to the tweeter is is too high for even off axis dispersion with an 8 inch woofer. So it is somewhat placement sensitive.

I had the Kef 104aB speakers for many years and they had a crossover at 3 kHz. The Kef site does not give the crossover but from the power handling specs, I would judge the 103.2 had a similarly high crossover. I did audition different Kef speakers off that vintage and they were very pleasant, somewhat laid back, and very good on vocals and piano.
