RE: Ryan Tempus III, Devore Gibbon X, JM Reynaud Concorde Supreme or Aerial 20T

A speaker line that you should consider are the Vandersteen Quatro, etc., especially with the carbon tweeter. I have had the pleasure of listening regularly to the Aerial 7, not "T" model at a friends summer house, and really like the sound of that speaker, so I'm guessing I have some idea of what your nines sound like. I got a pretty good listen to the Vandersteen Quatro CT a while ago, and to me it was pretty close to a perfect speaker. Very out of my price range, but someday I might look into a used Treo CT. Anyway, it was coherent, had dynamics, punch, and maybe the most real brass sound I've ever heard. One of the few speakers I've ever heard with great inner detail, air, and punch. I'm not sure which of the CT line matches up with your budget, but I'd definitely try to give that one a listen.
