Since I'm guessing yours is an HT system I don't have much to offer. My HT is simply a Pioneer Elite receiver powering 7.1 Triangle Comets, a Velodyne DD-10 plus, and completely independent of my two channel system.
Unlike two channel analog media HT media production techniques have a way of losing sight of audio detail, after all its just TV. Even so, I've found using identical speakers and locating them equal distance and height from the listening position uses much less, in my case no room correction (except for the Velodyne). I've found the results very noticeable especially with the few classical SACDs that I own.
You might want to email Velodyne and discuss incorporating a DD Plus with your current DD. In particular slaving the older unit with the Plus EQing.
