Yes, they must be nearly "beat on" with Dance Music for nearly 3 days, before they open up. Mine seem to be still breaking in, because they just keep on sounding better and better! The song in the link below will quickly reveal imaging of any speaker, and the JBL Loft 50's cast an image from wall to wall. The grilles have to go, and they need to be aimed right at you.

Also, distance to rear walls is critical, too close and the mids turn to mud, too far away, and they get too lean. Remember, the woofers play up to 320 hz.

I plan to review these soon, but I really like them, so far. My advice, run, do not walk, and grab a pair from New Egg for 179.00 shipped, cause when they are gone, they are gone for good.
