Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

RE: Yes and no

I was more thinking of the practical aspect of *importing* a 12" driver to Canada. Not worth it, unless it's something "special", like for a speaker that you have in a pair and want OEM/matching etc. Never correlate the price of something in the U.S. to what it might cost to get to/in Canada. :) Shipping of some larger/heavier objects can kill the value proposition.

Compared to what you could get a quite decent used lower model of SVS sub for here. Their distributor imports in largish quantities, and the prices are very comparable here to in the U.S. (after exchange rate), so are also reasonably priced used. Plus with their upgrade policy, you can get some fine deals on the lower models that people upgraded too.

I still recommend replacing a "designed" sub driver with the OEM one. But then, what some brands call a sub is merely a larger speaker in a box, as opposed to the smaller drivers in their "not subs", so I guess it wouldn't matter there.
