Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

RE: Audax pr170m0 mid-range

that seems like a large cone to properly cover a midrange. I don't think it would do the top end justice. And it would have blending problems with the bottom end requiring a hefty filter.

In my DIY days I tried some Audax drivers. They had a vailed sound that was common in the early days of poly cones.

I know I shouldn't make a general statement like that being many high end speaker companies used them years ago. But I have also notice a lot of companies DON'T use them much these days.
