RE: mid price speaker advice

In my opinion the overall more capable speaker will be the 683. However, if you aren't planning to upgrade your power for a while the Heresy may be a better match for your current gear and better able to fill your large area.

I had the HeresyIII in a second system for a while. They roll off the bass pretty quick at around 50Hz, so you would really need a sub which you didn't want to do. The front is tilted up some so you shouldn't get direct reflections off the floor, or minimal. It seemed to me without biamping them the midrange was a bit too prominent. With all that out of the way, they can be a fun speaker to listen to for classic Rock and the like..

I think the 683 will bring a more refined sound that will work better with a wider variety of music.

As you listen to each which one draws you into the music more and you think you could listen to without any fatigue. As mentioned buying with a return option so you can hear in your room and system would be best.
