Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

RE: Rythmik is having a sale on some of their subs;

The Rhythmic I'm using, the relatively new L12, is not part of the holiday sale, but is still selling at its introductory price. It is their lowest price sealed unit, a 12" paper speaker cube and it's a great performer for my system which benefits from just a bit of bass reinforcement. As my modest size speakers in a modest size room have generally good bass, I use a single one mostly for music (rather than HT) to add a little bit of oomph at the bottom. Carefully adjusted I believe it also smooths out the bass response of the room somewhat. The trick is not to overdo it. Makes it sound like I have large speakers. It's quiet, clean, quick, no doubling; it's not there 'till it's there.

The price for this speaker includes shipping, and considering that this little cube weighs 60 pounds, 70 with its sturdy box, that's not peanuts.

The only negative is that the "standby" function on Rythmiks often does not work well. Rythmik's Brian explains that's due to the fact that he uses transformer driven power supplies; he says his competitors use switching ones, and that accounts for it.

No connection, just a customer.
