Bill, I haven't heard your specific Elac speakers so I can't comment on their sound. But the cheapest small Magico speaker is the S1 which has an US mspr of $12,600, but can be had 2nd hand for aroudnd $6.5k. The S1's build quality is excellent of course, and the drivers use the same materials as the S5's, however I was never completely happy with the sound of this speaker; in particular the bass & sound staging. The S1's are also very inefficient (86db into a 4ohm load). I just think the concept doesn't work well. As a complete package, I rate the Magico Mini II's higher on both sound and aesthetics. They're great speakers if you can find them 2nd hand.In the same form factor (as S1), the YG Carmel 2 is a much better speaker. It's build quality & especially sound are on another level, as their $24,300US price tag suggests.
The best sounding compact Magico speaker is the Q1 which is $39kUS & sounds sublime with the right upstream gear. The Q1 is an easy recommendation in small spaces, but you need deep pockets. To be honest, even though i'm a Magico fan, i'd first look at a pair of Joseph Audio Pulsars, 2nd hand Sonus Faber Guarneri Homages, Penaudio Cenya Signatures, Proac D two & Harbeth C7ES-3. You could also throw in the Reference 3a MM de Capo BE's & Kef LS50's as well. Harbeths btw have great synergy with Leben. Jeff Day has written a lot about that gear for 6 moons.
