"Constructively and destructively"

It's interesting you should bring this up. I was talking to one of our writers today about this issue, and the advice give by Duke is spot on.

What many people don't understand is that by having two drivers that overlap to a degree, they might play nicely together or they might not. This isn't easy to understand without measurements, etc., but you can certainly here it.

A month or so ago we did a video with KEF's Jack Oclee-Brown where he described this with a tweeter and a midrange, and the constructive and destructive nature of sound waves when they combine. It's at 2:55 in this video on YouTube. The same happens with you cross speakers over to a sub. Positioning and phase have a lot to do with it.
