I can only speak to powered subwoofers with powerful equalization and XLR termination. If you're going to use one sub I suggest a very long run of Blue Jeans or similar economical custom length cable to determine an optimum location.

With two subs at/or near the main speakers, location may not be an issue depending on the room.

I heard very little, if any, advantage in using a 2M run of Cardas Golden Reference and 25' runs of Blue Jeans.
