I've had this capacitor sitting on my bench since Christmas. Yesterday I FINALLY switched out the Solen for the Clarity.
Now Solen is a fine capacitor. I have NO complaints and have always been happy using them. A good solid capacitor at a fair price.
The Clarity caps I bought were from Madisound at only $16 - also a great deal!
After a few hours of warm up, here's the poop.
The treble now has a more open and "twinkly" characteristic. Not louder which often gives the illusion of better but, more natural. Now here's the interesting part. I never actually heard dynamics in a tweeter. I always assumed - how much air movement could there be to cause "dynamics" in a tweeter. Apparently I was very wrong. There was actual punch to the treble. Something I have never heard. Separation and kick.
So in short, I would use the solens in a punchier tweeter. Like a ribbon or 3/4" metal dome. And the Clarity caps just take it up a level or two if used on silk domes. I will try them on some metal dome tweeters next month.
