Audioengine P4 Horizontal Orientation

I find a pair of Audioengine P4 loudspeakers when implemented as nearfield monitors placed in a horizontal orientation (à la Yamaha NS-10), the elliptical waveguide feature for the tweeter intended for wider dispersion when the Audioengine P4 is positioned in the intended vertical orientation (tweeter above woofer) becomes an issue to address. The characteristic dispersion of the tweeter sounds seriously skewed when the Audioengine P4 is placed in a horizontal orientation. Within the nearfield environment, the lack of the elliptical waveguide functioning for wider dispersion on the horizontal plane is acceptable to my ear, but the wider flared shape of the waveguide now functioning on the vertical plane requires tweeter diffraction felt strips positioned at the point where the flare shape ends, above and below the tweeter. 1" x 2.5" strips cut from adhesive-backed thin felt sheets found at a local craft store is adequate for the task, IME.
