Regluing Ohm Walsh 2 cans

I recently did some repairs to the driver cans on a couple Ohm Walsh 2 speakers (the foam lining the cans had fallen apart on top of the drivers, cleaned that up & replaced the foam with fabric). Now I need to "reglue" the cans back onto the bass driver frame. If anyone here has done this before, what did you use to reattach the cans? I'm considering latex caulk, suitably painted. Anyone done this? The can covers need to be fairly well attached, but removable for any future service. I may also just pop rivet a couple small "L" brackets to the cans where the 2 side screws hold the cans to the cabinets & just have those screws hold the can covers on.

TIA

David
