RE: 'What means "a right midrange" is still not clear to me.'

Hi and thanks again for the valuable advice
I have a weird test in mind
I would start from the assumption that good human voice reproduction is challenging.
Then i would just listen very good recordings of voices/choirs through some midrange drivers, even mounted in open air (without box).
We did something like this with a friend years ago.
Some cones were very bad ... but some were very good indeed.
I remember for instance a 8" taken from a pair of JBL L212 speakers
There were no real bass and no highs, of course (it was just hanged in open air) ... but the music was there anyway.I like the sound coming from this driver a lot indeed.
I could have lived with that sound ... maybe putting the driver in a box at least.
I mean, even if the driver was clearly limited in freq response the playback of voices was very convincing ... complete.
So, in the assumption that a great reproduction of voices is a must, there i had it all. The only problem was to fill the very lows and the highs, i guess a quite easy task to carry-out.
A very good "corner stone" for a 3 ways speakers.
More in general a really exceptional driver by itself with a huge alnico magnet. Unbelievable construction quality.
And this also would start a discussion about drivers' quality.
Thanks again.
Kind regards,
bg
