Advice needed: Von Schweikert VR-4JR Mk. III?

I'm thinking of upgrading my original VR-4JR speakers to the Mk. III level offered at the Von Schweikert factory. The cost is steep though, $2500 + shipping both ways. But the changes are substantial; the only thing retained is the cabinetry to which is added a heavy interior laminate. The drivers are all European sourced. Any experience with this upgrade out there?
I'm very fond of the speakers the way they are and they suit my space and equipment just fine. But I have recently upgraded my front end to good effect, and who can resist a quality increase?
