Review of Legacy Audio Aeris

I listened to the Aeris at a dealer's home in Virginia yesterday. Only set up for SACDs or CDs. No vinyl and a relatively small room with 8' ceilings. Impressions: Deep bass present but decay time seemed wrong. Upper frequencies too bright for my taste although they can be toned down with the audio processor that comes with the speaker. A front row center speaker. Excellent cabinet work and is a handsome product to most people. Midrange good but on some male and female vocals had an edge that I did not like. Amps were transistor. The above faults could possibly be corrected with a larger room, a high wattage tube amp and a different preamp and a vinyl front end or some combination of the above. Will lister again in Chicago next month. Also will hear the V. I currently use an Infinity RS1b in a large room with tube amps and a Spectral preamp. I re auditioned the SACDs at home on my system and the bass had better decay and just seemed more correct and above frequency problems were not noted but my system is voiced for a mid hall sound. The Vandersteen 5As are a better choice in my opinion if you have a smallish room and are not playing at loud levels.
