Jim Rogers JR149 Advice

Hello All,

I am new to the forum and would really like a bit of advice regarding some speakers.

I was lucky enough to be able to acquire for free a pair of Jim Rogers JR149 speakers... I understand that this is quite jammy?
They were pretty beat up and stored in a cold garage for many, many years.

After a general clean and purchasing some new foam covers, I've noticed that the large drivers are distorting a fair bit once they're turned up... I'm not pushing them very hard at all but the distortion is very noticeable.

I quite like the look/sound of these little speakers and I'm a sucker for anything old/unique.

Can anyone recommend a set of drivers to replace the current knakard ones? or offer any advice at all?

I will add that I'm not really a massive audiophile. I have a home studio set up and record/mix a fair bit of music and have a basic understanding of that area... But this side is all new to me but very interesting (so please be soft with me)

Any advice, help or anything would be really appreciated as I would like to restore them to their former glory.

I am running them through a kenwood ka8100 if this helps?

Thanks in advance,
Stephen
