I recently purchased a pair of the latest Great Plains Audio 604 8H III's. No hint of edginess from these. I am sure the condition of the coaxials, proper diaphragms, crossovers and enclosures will have a great influence on the sound. Also no one has inquired about your listening area. That could make or break a great speaker. Tell us about your room.
BTW mine is a little less than 400 Sq Ft. Carpeted with a partial cathedral ceiling up to about 9.5ft, lightly textured walls and racks, shelving, and a queen sized bed.
