RE: tube friendly speakers

I think tube friendly speakers are speaker with fairly flat impedance curves. Tube amplifiers have very low damping factors, so their frequency response will follow the dips and peaks in the speaker's impedance curve. If you want a tube amplifier to deliver a flat frequency response, the speaker should have a fairly flat impedance curve. I would therefore consider my Thiel CS3.7 speakers to be tube friendly speakers because their impedance curve is very flat from 60-Hz to 20-kHz at 3Ω ±0.5Ω. The impedance rise below 60-Hz will serve to enhance the bass.
