Tube amps come in many shapes and sizes just as solid state amps come in many shapes and sizes. In general if you get the appropriate tube amp for any given loudspeaker they will drive pretty much anything quite fine, including speakers that are not deemed to be "good for tube amplifiers." The dealer I purchased my 24 watt SET amp (Line Magnetic 219IA) had them running on Zu Audio speakers and ATC 100 loudspeakers. ATC is not designed for tubes and yet that pairing sounds better than the pairing with the ultra tube friendly ZUs.
I also run the amp on KEF LS-50 speakers and it's the best sound that I have heard from the KEFs yet. Indeed, those speakers are patently non SET friendly and yet I have found that SS even with high power of known repute has made them sound thin and tinny. The SET has produced deeper fuller richer bass and sounds whole.
But of course - high efficiency gentle impedance etc are general guidelines - the importance is magnified if the tube amp uses puny iron.
