RE: KEF LS50 first impressions

I agree. As a speaker breaks in the suspension loosens which increases the bass in quantity and how low it goes. And with less lean bass the treble will sound less bright as the lows and highs are in better balance. Lean speakers almost always sound bright which is why a manufacturer will often under damp the bass to richen it. A good example is the venerable LS3/5a which is way under damped just for this reason. Another opposite example where this was a problem was the early Wilson WATT without the puppy woofer. It was beautifully detailed and told you lots about a recording but it was too lean for most listeners.
