Only if you don't like the signature muffled sound. I tend to be a silk dome fan, and am afraid of metal dome tweeters, so I was pretty surprised that they were not making my ears bleed after the mod, well, after the caps got over their initial tantrum anyway.
I also find it odd that Vandersteen is alleged to be a hater of property rights, refusing to allow his customers to make repairs to their own property, insisting they return them to the factory for repair. That of course would be at great cost to the property owners and wholly unnecessary. In fact I thing that is why they glue the boards in too, though they may say it's to secure them better, and an argument could be made for that.
What I am forced to presume from his attitude as described in public forums, is that from his perspective they continue to be HIS speakers even though he sold them. Sounds to me like he ought to be leasing the darn things with that attitude, if accurate. Certainly not a free market, property rights supporter if true. I did, early on, buy one new pair of his speakers, but from what I have been told, I would only buy used today. YMMV...
Best Regards,
Lou
