Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

RE: THX doesn't measure SQ, just how the unit performs under their requirements.

For example- can a multi-channel amp deliver a minimum THX specified output for all of its channels without crapping out? Do speakers deliver a specified amount of SPL, and with the appropriate dispersion?

THX isn't a "review" (ala S'phile, If I took your meaning correctly), but a test for different components to assure that they can deliver (usually output levels to a THX "standard") at a minimum distortion level.

It doesn't mean the gear will actually SOUND any good... True though; a lot of it is utterly meaningless in the "real world" (unless you live in Hollywood and want to impress Lucasfilm/Disney)!
