It's all about "Q". Filter shape.
The 2nd order Linkwitz Riley "textbook" filter (Q = 0.5) for 8ohms @ 800 Hz Gives 13 uF for both caps and 3.2 mH for both inductors. This crossover has a theoretical sum at Fc of 0db.
The values they have used there, 26 uF and 1.6 mH are for a 2nd ordeer variable Q "textbook" filter with a Q of 1.0. This crossover has a theoretical sum at Fc of 6db.
(Notice when we went from a Q = 0.5 to a Q = 1.0 crossover the cap size doubled and the inductor size halved.)
The reason I parenthesize "textbook" is because these filters are directly from calculators and there is no compensation for any frequency or impedance variations.
Cheers,
Presto
