Adam F7 from local Guitar Center store. (You can see my posts below.)
Never considered before as I assumed:
1. Since they were designed/built to be ruthlessly revealing I would not be happy;
2. Inexpensive parts relative to audiophile marketed gear;
3. Amps inside speakers – worst operating environment imaginable.
Monitors I listened to at the store: KRK, Tannoy, JBL, Yamaha, Adams, and several others I do not recall. And for my ears/brain/preferences, I believed my above assumptions to be correct as I did not like any of them for pleasurable listening. That is why I’ve never considered them.
That is not 100% true, as I did like the Adam F7. Not only liked, but purchased the pair, and the more I listen to them at home, the more I like them. In some aspects, better than my main rig. Shocking! At least to me. Granted, they were the most expensive pair I heard, but still, under $1k for a pair of excellent speakers with amps and active crossover included?! Amazing!
Apparently, pro gear can be satisfying to an audiophile-type person. As always with gear, I realize I need to listen myself to decide. And not exclude gear unheard just because I assume it cannot sound good.
