Why not studio monitors?

Serious question....not trolling. Given that the ultimate goal is for the flattest response, why are audiophiles not using studio monitors? Based on everything I've read, they sound fantastic and are much cheaper than "hi-fi" speakers which are tailored by the maker to a certain sound they like. Even the audio interfaces such as the Focurite 2i2 is suppose to be fantastic at a fraction of the cost of hi-fi dacs and such. I know studio monitors don't look that great and I'm guessing that's one of the reasons why they're not more readily accepted. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks.
