Hi All,
I have some Boston Acoustics A100's being driven by a Dynaco st35. The tubes are near the end of their life and need replacement.
I've notices on some higher notes (not the highest) that a rattling sound comes from the tweeters as if paper was being vibrated by air.
Its only select notes on a few songs.
Could this be the amp clipping (but its not the highest or lowest frequencies) or have the tweeters taken a trip down south?
If the tweeters are blown...are they worth replacement?
Also, I've had to downgrade to living in a bedroom. So I'm looking at possibly replacing the A100's with some new bookshelf speakers or inexpensive Polk Tsi towers (Smaller footprint)...but I'm not sure I will get the level of sound and detail these speakers give...these A100's disappear when music is played.
Any comments or advice is appreciated.
Roger
Normality frightens me- its what they use to lure you into the cookie cutter.
