My thiels sound their best in a fairly near field position. Far out from the wall, so reflections are limited or very delayed. In that position, at the right volumes, they can be addictive. They really need to be played to fill out though. I also had them at a place where they were in a huge room, something like 35 x20. With plenty of space to breathe, they was nothing bad you could say about them.
