Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Not Nostalgia

I can't speak for everyone but in my case its definitely not nostalgia.

In my case, I was not even around when most of these "classic" speakers were new (so no nostalgia or faulty memory on my part).

I actually have a large collection of new and old speakers and can compare them directlty to one another and make my own judgements about how they compare with each other without any preconceived notions.

Furthermore, it's one thing to recollect and to feel nostalgic, but when it comes down to it, audiophiles are collecting these classic speakers because they sound good (not just to take up space or evoke memories).

There are enough classic speakers around to be able to compare them directly to current speakers in the same room. This is not nostalgia but objective comparison.
