RE: Do you think modern speakers have gotten better, or worse ?

there were a lot of speakers in the 70's-80's that were nothing more than a bunch of drivers screwed into plywood, no thought given to phase or time alignment or high order crossovers. They sounded pretty good to me at the time. Bigger was better. I don't have any laying around to do comparative listening to against my more modern speakers. There was a lot of time and money spent on research into developing better diaphragm material, damping, bracing and XO's. I would have to assume it is for the better. Harbeth waited a long time to change their designs with the new diaphragm material.
