Controlled Directivity

I wonder about the 'controlled directivity' technique used in the Amphion Krypton3. Cancelation of side and back waves using perforated holes in the side of the enclosure and 'bowl' around the tweeter.
The sound must be very different than usual speakers. Someting like an 'anti-Bose' concept.
