I have a pair of JM Labs Chorus 725's, 3 way with 2-6" ? woofers a 5" midrange and one tweeter. I bought them used years ago with a blown tweeter, unfortunately the original tweeters do not indicate ohmage(as far as I could tell). I have been using them without tweeters in the cabinet but with a ribbon tweeter box on top with filter and L-pad, they sound very good set up this way. Now I plan on selling them and replacing the ribbon tweeter box with a soft dome tweeter installed in the original spot in the cabinet.
I later tried a pair of JM Labs Focal inverted dome tweeters(bought online), not sure if they were original to this model of speaker, sounded much too bright and listening fatigue was an issue. The ribbons(Founteks) are amazing. But do not want to sell them, rather install something in the cabinet.
So, the question is, what impedance of tweeter do I use, 8 ohm? Like the rest of the drivers? Would 6 ohm work? 4 ohm?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
