Are you saying that true bookshelf speakers cannot compete with floorstanders, or is there such a thing as a defined monitor sized speaker. I myself own a couple of tweeners Klipsch Heresy Is and a little known Tannoy called the DC200 (not the best Tannoys made a last gasp of the old Gold Dual Concentric.) I have Vintage JBLs C36 and C38 Low Boys, which are kind of in that intermediate cateory. None have the bass extension of my floorstanders not even my modest VR2s. Forget about comparing them to my JM Lab Focal Electras 936s with 2 7.5 inch woofers each. Oddly my Klipch LaScalas have a 15 inch woofer as do the JBLs and niether it seems plimbs the depths of the low frequencies.
