There are plenty of other bookshelf speakers in the same price point, though the Minis easily best them. The Image and Alpha series really are not comparable, since the Minis are part of the higher-up Imagine line and share technology from the Synchrony Series. The Minis have a richer midrange and cleaner bass than the Image line speakers I've heard. They are actually extremely close in sound to the Synchrony Two B, since those are five year old tech. I think you're all missing the point of these speakers. They aren't meant to compare to towers. What you're getting is the sound of much more expensive speakers like the Synchrony Two B's in a smaller enclosure, which makes them perfect for near-field listening.
