One other speaker you may want to consider is the Zu Omen. The price is within your range and they are an excellent match for your CJ amp. The sound is very big,fast and detailed but not harsh if you can make it through the 2>3 week break-in period (during which they will sound a little bright). I drive mine with 8 watt mono blocks (check my profile for system info) in a fairly large room and on large scale orchestral pieces they are very realistic yet with the small group Jazz and folk I primarily listen to they are also satisfying. Zu has a liberal return policy if you don't like them you have an out. The Vandersteen 2c's mentioned by others are also a good choice but I'm not sure your amp can drive them to their best performance. A lot will depend on your room.
