As a Dahlquist collector, I must say you did get THE great deal. I have had all of the models from the very first DQ-10 version through the DQ-20i. The one set of 20i's I had, I sold. At the time, my space was limited and I preferred the SMOOTH liquid mid range of the original DQ-20, over the slightly more detailed, but edgier mid range of the DQ-20i. The DQ-20 did use a much more expensive mid range driver.
Now though I have the room, and I'm looking for a set of 20i's to add to the collection again. So, if your plans don't work out, let me know, and you'll get much more then you paid. There are better choices for you that will be higher in efficiency, and comparable in sound quality.
On the power question, YES the 20 is a bit easier to drive then the DQ-10's, mainly due to it';s higher impedance. Still, you'll want a good 150 watts of quality amplification and that doesn't come cheap! A good rule to follow on amplification is to compare the 8 ohm power spec., to the 4 ohm power spec. You'd like to see this double, but if it's slightly low, that's OK. When you look at some receivers and lower end amplifiers, you'll see the power is only a few percent higher at the lower impedance. Those I'd personally avoid. Best of luck and enjoy the sounds!
