JBL 8216A speakers vs Boston Acoustics CR8

74.100.87.84

Hello. I'm by no means an audiophile but I am old school. I have no need for home theater (rarely watch movies at home). I do like to listen to a wide variety of music. I have an older HK receiver and my speakers are JBL 8216A that a friend in the audio biz recommended to me a very long time ago. These are considered Industrial Series speakers with 40hz to 20hz Frequency Range. I just moved into an actual house and want to upgrade my sound for my 15' x 17' living room with high ceilings soI'm looking to add a subwoofer. I just saw a Polk 8" powered subwoofer (PSW111) that I like because of it's really small dimensions. Would this subwoofer match up with my speakers and be enough for someone who mostly listens to soft rock and downtempo house music? When I read the recommendations for the PSW111 it says to match with soundbar or compact speakers. Are my JBL's considered compact speakers? I was also looking at B

On another note I just bought a pair of Boston Acoustics CR8 vintage speakers to use in my fitness room. I was considering switching these to be the main living room speakers. Any opinions on that?

Thanks for any guidance on my quest to better the sound of my system.

Mary Ann
