Sonic Quality of Outdoor Speakers?

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I'd been considering a vintage receiver and perhaps a pair of something like JBL L100s or Klipsch Heresys for my new backyard shop but the arrival of cooler weather has given me some concerns. The shop is quite similar to your typical garage. It's a tad better in that it does have air conditioning for summer use, but there are days/weeks at a time when it's not in use and the power is off. There's absolutely no heat (Mid Gulf Coastal TX...It might barely freeze twice a year or so but lots of 40 degrees and rain) With this "electronics killer" environment in mind, and with all other factors considered, do you think I'd be better served with a $2-300ish pair of new "outdoor speakers"? Also need some ideas as to a more non climate controlled friendly amp/receiver here if it's okay to throw that in with a speaker forum question...
