They have Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum lines. The Silver RX8 at the lower end of your price range.
I believe the ones used at the Brucknerthons are an older floorstanding model in their Silver line. I've always been impressed with their warm presentation of massed violins, detail in brass chorales, and clean bass in timpani whacks, but that particular model does have a slight glassy quality in the upper midrange.
I use Vandies, myself. You should try to hear the 3A or 2CE.
