If the cap values aren't too high, an excellent entry-level polypropylene cap is the SoniCap gen-1... http://www.soniccraft.com/sonicaps.htm

Resistors normally degrade with age, but if the c-over has 'lytics in it, probably the resistors are cheap and nasty-sounding. Mills noninductive wirewounds are loved by many of us. SonicCraft again.
