I have been reading the Loud Speaker Design Cookbook by Vance Dickason, the 5th edition.I have a question about calculating a vent tube length.
Vance states that for large diameter woofers, where the vent tube radius is greater than or equal to 2", multiple vents are practical. For example, (see pg. 54 of LSD Cookbook) using two 4" diameter vents together yields a combined diameter of 5.7".
To calculate the length from his equation on pg. 51, Lv = ((1.463E7*R*R) / fb*fb*Vb) - 1.463*R), is the radius, R, equal to 5.7"/2, which is the radius from the combined yield. Or use R = 2", since each tube is made from 4" diameter stock?
Thanks,
