LaScala's K43 - Need advice..

166.72.68.157

Picked up a pair of LaScala industrial's a little while back (some of you gave me some advise on them)... and I was wondering of some of you could give me more advice.

I just got a hold of them and pulled out the tweeters, squakers, and woofers to take a look at their condition. On pulling out the woofers, I noticed that the previous owner had pulled out one of the K43's and substituted with an Altec Lansing 421A Bass Musical Instrument Speaker DIA CONE (that's what it says on the back anyway).. The cone paper does seem to be weaker than the K43's.

Question:

Is the Altec Lansing 421A comparable to the K43 in terms of range and output?

Should I attempt to replace the Altec 421A with another K43 or not worry about it?

The cone on the K43 looks good, but the 421A's cone looks like it's been patched here and there.. Anyone know what it costs to recone one of these puppies? Where? Does patching a cone degrade sound quality?

Thanks in advance for any assistance you guys can provide!!

John
