Re: Dynaudio or Soliloquy: Which has better potential?

daverino,

What's so cool about the Sol. 5.0 is they work both on good solid state and tube equipment.

They sound great either with the 250w Krell monoblocs or 25 w tube amps.
So, later down the line, if you decide to go tubes, you'll have that option.

I found they are transparent enough that sometimes, do not sound that great with entry-level solid state gear. Perhaps, that's why they get such a polarised opinion? And in general, I prefer them with warmish sounding gear. I use them in 12X15 room without a sub and feel no need for one.

Since you already have a sub, their lack of bass is not an issue. They do need a sub in a medium to large size room.

They can give you a good imaging and soundstaging you are looking for. No. you won't get the razor sharp details at this level. But, they are resolving enough for a good music making. They can keep up with refference level gear for sure.

May I suggest you'd upgrade your front end to something more deserving for the speakers than the dvd player?

I'm not familiar with Dynn's Audience. Altho, I have tried their Contour standmounts at home. For the money, the Soliloquy offered a better value for me.

Good luck.
