Hi Berk,

Ya..I kinda think that you should throw a fair amount of your budget at the receiver and source. Good speakers definatly make a difference, but if something's wrong upstream no speaker in the world can "fix" it. Secondly, speakers hold their value better than theater electronics. It would be more cost effective to sell and upgrade your speakers than to do so with your electronics.

The problems another poster mentioned regarding the 3300's are somewhat true. A FEW people have been expirencing a whistling noise due to an overheating problem. The problem seems to be more the environment that the receiver lives in, rather than a problem with the individual reciver, as replacing it with another 3300 often does nothing to solve the problem.

The 3300 is still a current model but there is a new Denon inbetween the 3300 and the 4800. The 3801 is a new model that does EX and ES and has 7 channels of amplification. It's a nice receiver, not in the class of the 4800 or 5800 but still very nice. I should have mentioned that previously...my mistake. There was also mention of the Marantz SR7000...also a very nice receiver, although in my expirence the Marantz models dont have quite the "grunt" of the Denon's when it comes to a real dynamic passage.

:-)
Steve
